Please Note : To maintain the credibility and preserve the symbolism of the coin, only qualified Canadian Patrol Pathfinders will be able to purchase it. Only one coin will be issued to an individual. We will require all available information about the course you graduated including but not limited to: dates, location, home unit, and course serial. To ease the process, you can email us a copy of your course report or certificate (a picture will suffice as long as information is visible).
In concept and “Pilot” in 1972, and formalized in 1975, The Patrol Pathfinder qualification is arguably the most mentally, intellectually, and physically demanding specialist skill qualification in the Canadian Army to obtain; an extremely small community of whom many hope to be part of, but few succeed to enter. The soldiers you see pictured above, are the torch holders for we fewer than 400 Patrol Pathfinders who have followed them. If having specialist skill training as a Paratrooper is for but a few, than being a Pathfinder is for a fraction of that few.
What is being offered here is the only centrally issued, serialized, and recorded coin available to all Canadian Patrol Pathfinders. This is now available for Pathfinders to represent our unique and proud tradecraft. Upon successful completion of the qualification, a Pathfinder may be permitted to receive this coin. There is a coin allocated for each Pathfinder, with a coin number registered to your name, in yearly succession of qualification; either living or deceased. The end state is for each Pathfinder to be in possession of their coin- and if they are no long with us, to ensure it finds its way to their legacy.
The coin displays a compass rose, signifying the multi-disciplinary excellence of the Pathfinders Skillset, the reliance placed on their lateral mindset both collectively and individually, and their core skillset of Navigation. This is encircled by the “Patrol Pathfinder Canada” and maple leafs found on the Patrol Pathfinder Canada Centre of Excellence Rondelle. Flipping the coin, the image of the Patrol Pathfinder specialist skill badge, the winged torch- worn by such few. The coin measures 38mm in diameter, 3mm thick and is in Die struck cartridge brass –Antique bronze patina 24kt gold detailing.
To honour all Pathfinders and preserve the collective heritages, there are two lineages of the Pathfinder coin. Pre-1975, and Post-1975. Both lineages to be extremely proud of, but both distinct. If you were qualified prior to 1975, please select the “Pre-1975” version of the coin, and if the opposite is true, please select the “Post-1975” version.
